The Information We Gather and How We Use It
C4CM collects PII, Non PII and/or other data from you when you voluntarily enter one of our Sites and provide us with information. You can choose not to provide certain information, but then you might not be able to take advantage of many of our features or be eligible to receive special offers. The information that you are asked to provide may include, but is not limited to, your name, postal address, email address, street address, zip code, telephone number(s), age, gender, salary range, education, occupation, employment status, professional interests as well as other information that may be requested from time to time. We may also collect information, including, but limited to, your web browser and your Internet Protocol (IP) address.
Non-Personally Identifiable Information (“Non PII”)
Other non-personally identifiable information about your visits to the Site, such as the number of times you have viewed an advertisement (but not your name, address or other personal information), also may be used to serve particular advertisements to you on the Site.
Personally Identifiable Information (“PII”)
We may employ independent contractors, vendors and suppliers (collectively, “Outside Contractors”) to provide specific services and products related to C4CM and the Site, including, but not limited to, providing credit card processing and fraud screening, order fulfillment and shipment, mailing of C4CM publications and other materials, hosting and maintaining the Site, and developing applications for the Site. These Outside Contractors may sometimes have limited access to information collected from you, including your PII, in the course of providing products or services to us. Access to your PII by these contractors is limited to the information reasonably necessary in order for these Outside Contractors to perform their limited function for us.
We may from time to time use your PII to notify you of special offers and new products and services from third parties that we think, in our sole discretion, may be of interest to you. Accordingly, it is possible that we may rent, sell or otherwise transfer to third parties PII about you. At any time, you can contact C4CM to request that we not share your PII with third parties, as set forth in greater detail below. The promotional offers referenced herein may be made to you by us and/or unrelated and/or unaffiliated third parties by means of email advertising, telephone marketing, postal mail, and/or by any other means of communication. By registering at this Site, or other third party web sites as described herein, you agree that such act constitutes and inquiry and/or application for purposes of the Amended Telemarketing Sales Rule (16 CFR Section 310 et seq.), as amended from time to time (“ATSR”). Notwithstanding that your telephone number may be listed on the Federal Trade Commission’s Do-Not-Call List, we reserved the right to contact you via telemarketing in accordance with ATSR.
Other unique circumstances may arise where we are required to disclose your PII to third parties, such as in connection with a corporate transaction where all or a portion of our business or assets (including our associated customer lists containing your PII) are sold or transferred, or if disclosure is required by law or pursuant to judicial or governmental investigations or proceedings.
You should be aware that if you voluntarily disclose PII in an e-mail or other communications with third parties listed on the Sites or in other materials, that information, along with any other information disclosed in your communication, can be collected and correlated and used by such third parties and may result in your receiving communications from other persons. Such collection, correlation, use and messages are beyond our control.
A cookie is a small file that is placed on your hard drive that enables us to analyze our web page effectiveness and identify you with the corresponding data that we have in our database. C4CM reserves the right to retain cookie data indefinitely.
Web pages may contain electronic images (called a “single-pixel GIF” or “web beacon”) that allow a web site, such as the Site, to count users who have visited that page or to access certain cookies. We use web beacons to track the effectiveness of a promotional campaign and to transfer an individual’s unique user identification (often in the form of a cookie) and associate your updated information into our database. Our practice is to include web beacons in HTML-formatted email messages (messages that include graphics) that we send directly or through third parties in order to determine, among many other items, which email messages were opened and to note whether a message was acted upon. In general, any electronic image viewed as part of a web page, including an ad banner, can act as a web beacon. C4CM reserves the right to retain web beacon data indefinitely.
